Carol works primarily with adults and young adults who are navigating anxiety, trauma, life transitions, relationship challenges, ADHD, chronic stress, and the lasting impact of difficult family experiences. She has a special interest in helping clients overcome people-pleasing, establish healthy boundaries, build self-confidence, and heal from childhood wounds that continue to affect their relationships and daily lives. She also works with clients experiencing betrayal, career transitions, struggles with adult children, and chronic pain.
As a Christian counselor, Carol believes every person has inherent worth and value. She strives to provide a warm, compassionate, and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel safe to share openly and honestly. She respects each client's beliefs and values and offers Christian counseling for those who desire it. Upon request, Carol is happy to integrate biblical principles, Scripture, and prayer into the counseling process, helping clients find hope, healing, and encouragement through their faith while also utilizing evidence-based therapeutic approaches.
Carol is trained in Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and integrates these approaches with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills, mindfulness, and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for OCD. Her approach is collaborative, compassionate, and tailored to each client's unique goals. She believes lasting change comes not only from learning new coping skills but also from understanding and healing the underlying experiences that shape current patterns.
Before becoming a therapist, Carol spent more than 30 years working in public education. That experience gives her unique insight into ADHD, executive functioning challenges, autism, AuDHD, anxiety, and the educational system. She enjoys helping adolescents ages 10 and older navigate school-related concerns, including academic stress, social challenges, and 504 and IEP accommodations. For clients with ADHD, she incorporates practical executive functioning strategies, including evidence-based approaches inspired by Smart but Scattered, to improve organization, focus, and productivity.
Outside of her counseling practice, Carol is an active volunteer in her local church and has a heart for serving others. She believes faith, healthy relationships, and emotional healing can work together to help people experience lasting growth and hope. Clients describe Carol as a warm, thoughtful, and empathetic listener who provides both practical tools and a supportive space to process life's challenges. Whether clients are seeking faith-based counseling or a traditional therapeutic approach, Carol strives to help them better understand themselves, strengthen their relationships, and move toward lives that reflect their values rather than fear or past experiences.
Carol is currently accepting new clients. Session fees are $100, and a sliding scale is available. Evening and Saturday appointments are available.
