Coaching Approach
Karen has been walking beside women who have lost children for over 27 years. Having lost two of her four children, she comes uniquely qualified to offer support, comfort and hope in the face of serious depression. She also coaches young children, aged 5-12 and teens with the re-focusing that must take place through transitions in life (divorce, blended families, death of a loved one, general trauma) back to a place where they can find peace and joy. Karen coaches both men and women who are dealing with pre- and post-divorce issues, trauma and life skills, as well as recovered addicts and alcoholics. She works with individuals with PTSD, who have gone through treatment and are still in need of life mapping, focus and direction. She is also a certified weight loss coach.
Karen creates a no-judgement environment as she uses the principles from Life Coach School TM, including the “model” to show her clients their minds. She is also a certified Life Mapping (trademark) coach. This method takes clients on a pathway to wellness as they can see on a chart where they’ve been, what they can do/choices, and how to create their future plans and goals. (Including becoming aware of and planning for setbacks.)
Education and Training
Karen attended the University of Texas in Austin. She also received her certification from The Life Coach School as a life and weight management coach. She received her certification in Life Mapping from International Christian Coaching Institute from teacher and psychologist, John Trent, PhD, ICCI Executive Board of Reference (author of “The Blessing). She is in the process of further training with International Christian Coaching Institute to receive her certification as Master Coach under the direction of Michelle Nietert, LPC-S.
Background and Experience
Karen has been coaching through her ministry, Vilomah Rose, for the past two years. She has four children, whom she homeschooled and five grandchildren, who were also homeschooled until recently. She loves spending time with her children and grandchildren, gardening, cooking, entertaining, holiday decorating and traveling. She loves music, movies, theatre and, when she can, traveling by passenger train.
